Mr. Guenther has been the Director of Bands at Kingston High School since 2015. Born in Seattle and raised in the suburbs, he began his musical journey on the clarinet in 2001, switching to saxophone after just one year. In 2009, he was awarded the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award at Kentwood High School and was recognized as a "rising star" by the Bellevue Jazz Festival. He then went on to Washington State University to study music, where he co-founded a music advocacy organization and recorded a solo jazz project with musicians from all across the West Coast. From the Reno Jazz Festival to Benaroya Hall, to the main stage at the Jazz Educators' Network conference, music has provided countless experiences for Mr. Guenther and he hopes to provide similar experiences for all of his students. So far, some experiences for his students include: the Macy's Holiday Parade in Seattle, the Grand Floral Parade in Portland, the Seahawks' first ever "Floating Pep Rally," a tour of San Francisco, and a performance in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC.
